Help After Death

All of us at the pharmacy were very sad to hear of the passing of a long time, loyal patient of ours Maria P.
She was of limited financial means, on Medicaid and with no family to help her, but she still managed to commute back to our pharmacy to use our services, even after she moved out of the neighborhood.
We recently learned that she was feeling very ill and had telephoned some acquaintances to ask for help, but no one was available.
She finally telephoned the police but they were too late, she passed away before they arrived!
One of the acquaintances, that she hadn't seen for several months, checked in and finally discovered that she had passed away.
They found out that there was no one available to make the funeral arrangements.
They looked up some of Maria's family in another state but the family did not want to help or get involved!
The acquaintances, Nineth and Jaime, took it upon themselves to start arrangements and to look for donations to cover the $2,100 funeral costs.
They were only able to raise $1,200.
After learning of the situation from a patient of ours, Mr. H., I was deeply saddened and felt compelled to help.
I donated $900 to cover the remaining funeral expenses.
I felt that Maria P. was a good person and a loyal customer that helped to keep us in business by using our pharmacy, so now it was my time to give back and help her, even after her passing!
